The Khergit Way of Belief!
Spirits & The Deity
Woe, Creator of the Steppe
Spoiler: ShowHide
The Creation of the Steppe.
Upon the beginning of the Steppe, it was said that the Khergits were originally brought onto the Earth through Woe raising them out of the Earth, wherein he gave them the lands they inhabit, the only thing they must do in order to please their creator is remain faithful, and defend the Steppe from any evil that may potentially pose a threat to his people.

It's said that Woe had also created evil and good spirits, these spirits are to help guide the pagan priests, or misguided followers of the religion, some of which have been known to bring curse to those who have committed serious offences, and others good fortune for their virtuous acts.

There are many people that have defended what is considered the 'holy land' of this religion, being Tulga, the capital and first land given from Woe to the Khergit people, others however have set up camps around holy sites out in the steppe in order to keep them safe from any potential harm, it's made the people of the Steppe very cautious and skilled when it comes to mountainous combat, when they've been defending such lands for so long on their glorious mounts.

Batang, the Warrior Spirit
Spoiler: ShowHide
The Khuzait Coup.
Batang was seen by some of the religious prophets pledging support to the Khergits upon their coup to usurp the Khuzaits, a war broke out between the usurpers and the Khuzaits who were proclaimed by Batang as 'failures' to the Way, therefore his spirit for war was heavily preached in the civil war that had occured, with the Khuzaits receiving religious support through their war against the Khuzaits they were heavily supported and had lead many glorious battles against the remains of the Khuzaits.

It was also said, that Batang encouraged the Khergits to go to war with the Sturgians and the Imperials in order to establish new traditional lands for their people with some religious meaning, therefore as time went on lands were invaded belonging to the Northern Empire and the Sturgians which have been kept by the Khergits since being invaded, and renamed to more traditional names that were given to them by Batang.

To receive a 'vision' from Batang, is considered a good sign of faith, as many legendary warriors from the Steppe have proclaimed to receive guidance from the spirit of Batang, especially if they're fighting a just cause for the Way of the Steppe, one of the most famous religious warriors being Khazan, the first prophet of the Steppe faith.

Maugong, Spirit of Evil
Spoiler: ShowHide
Curse of the Khuzaits.
Maugong, being represented as a 'dragon' spirit, is considered to be the spirit of evil, this is because Maugong brought a curse upon the Khuzaits for their 'sinful' deeds against Woe, this being losing some traditional land against the Northern Empire during the first wars that had taken place, and allowing Imperials into the lands who were preaching their own gods, something considered to be a serious crime, especially if Khuzaits convert.

For a few years, until Batang contacted the Khergits, it was said that multiple sightings of Maugong were seen across the land, wherein bad events tended to occur soon after, the most notable 'curse' given from Maugong was when his spirit was rumoured to be seen in the old city of Akkalat, wherein a huge army of steppe bandits had managed to sneak into the city.

This lead to a long fight with many casualties, and eventually the bad luck had the better of the people, Maugong has been regarded as a spirit to keep 'pleased' otherwise it's said that his curses will return back to the people and doom them into situations that they may not be able to work their way out of.

Ghuwon, the Banisher
Spoiler: ShowHide
Banishing to the realms of Evil.
Ghuwon the Banisher purges Khergit heretics of the faith, as well as deciding who makes their way to the 'World of the Stars' and those who are doomed to the 'Caverns of the Earth' where all sinners and non-believers of the faith are said to go in the afterlife, whilst this spirit has been rumoured to be seen around the death of some very important Khuzait and Khergit rulers, he is essentially the spiritual emissary of Woe.

Ghuwon is worshipped by the people for a guaranteed entrance into the 'World of the Stars' which most of the good and faithful believers have been inducted into, so that they may live a life of eternal prosperity and graciousness, whereas if he is not worshipped, those that have committed crimes against the faith are doomed to the 'Caverns of the Earth' wherein unfaithful are to serve Ghuwon for eternity, righting their wrongs.

The First Prophet
Khazan, the Prophet of Woe
Spoiler: ShowHide
The descent of Khazan.
Upon the Khergits great victory against the Khuzaits, a prophet known as 'Khazan' descended infront of everyone to the city of Halmar, it was said that his descent upon Earth was followed with the spirits created by Woe in order to enforce the point that he is a religious figure created directly by Woe in order to bring some former glory back to the Khergit people.

It was said many Khergits followed Khazan, in a band known as 'Khazan's Woe' which wandered around the steppe's protecting many religious sites from gigantic bands of steppe bandits that were forming to take over from the Khergits out of a pledged loyalty to a notorious banished noyan, known as Sunjin Bhazar, to take over the realm with their steppe warlords being guaranteed land and religious sites.

The main issue here was, is that Sunjin had many heretics apart of his group, leading to Khazan's descent to protect the people from his evil, and to teach preaches and religious figures important information regarding the faith, such as a fine line between sinning and good deeds to please Woe.

Once his purpose was served, it was said that Khazan had ascended with the spirits back up into the 'World of the Stars' however he made it very clear that Woe and the spirits are watching over the people before vanishing, further enforcing the belief of the faith.

The 'Caverns of Earth' & the 'World of Stars'
Caverns of Earth
The Caverns of Earth is the realm ruled by Ghuwon, to be a sinful Khergit, is to be banished to the Caverns of Earth righting your wrongs eternally, this place is full of the souls that have done wrong and is considered to be the afterlife of evil.
