Characters goals: Her main goals are improving her language and medical knowledge, and also helping all the soldiers that were wounded during the current war.
Reason: Her mother spoke Veagir and there are a lot of other reasons in the biography so I am going to quote some:
Her mother can be described as a very strict and straight-to-the-point person. She never really cared about how Ily felt about her decisions since her main goal was to equip her with skills useful for survival. She never worked full time except for a few weeks a year when she worked as a tailor. She spoke Nordic and Vaegir so that is how Ily started learning the Vaegir language. Ily was never close to her mother.
She spent 5 years (6-11) as a Borios’s apprentice during which she learned how to write in nordic and some basic medicine (not even close enough to be qualified as a surgeon), also she improved her Vaegir language(since Borios was half Vaegir and spoke it occasionally), she couldn’t still speak it but she could say a few sentences and communicate.
While captive she was mostly used for writing letters and helping some of the injured raiders as much as she could since she wasn’t a very skilled surgeon. Also during that time, she improved her knowledge of the Vaegir language just enough so she can communicate.
During her service to lord Delnard (5 years 11-16), she improved her literacy, language (common and vaegir), and medical skills to the point she started partially working as a surgeon, not a very skilled one at that, but on the way to becoming ok.
